Evaluating

I am writing this article simply to state ( what I believe ) is the obvious , but maybe to explain to a very small percentage of people that there is no such thing as a perfect dog. Some people can convince themselves that their dog is perfect , but in the real world if they would like to have it or themselves evaluated they would soon find out that , Yes their dog and themselves carry faults . Some people cannot accept this and it is concerning that this very tiny minority can cause so much disturbance whilst trying to convince everyone else that you must demand a perfect product.
If you have very little experience in owning , training or breeding dogs , do not be disappointed if you end up with an individual or maybe even a group of dogs that have a problem or two. Most problems can be eventually bred out , to then generally be followed by another. Personalities are mostly given to a dog by their owners and their environment , with the exception that some dogs are just born rat bags , and if this behaviour is uncontrollable and unpredictable then you should have this confirmed by someone that knows and then consider putting down this dog or bitch before it causes a major problem. The same thing applies with physical problems. If the physical problem is obviously affecting the comfort of the dogs quality of life , it should be considered to be put to sleep.

When looking at breeding any animal it would be a good idea to prepare yourself for problems immediately , big or small and after nearly 20 years of owning and breeding dogs I can honestly say you will never see the end of them .You will spend 1 or more generations sometimes getting rid of a serious problem and in most cases just to turn around to find another one nearly as bad. I Found it easier to expect something to go wrong and be ready to deal with it. Learning how to deal with the problem is the important part .Knowing when something is totally broken down ( or people are just saying that it is broken down ) is what has to be determined. I look at things in my life and cover every topic with a simple policy , that when the negatives clearly out way the positives then you should ditch that particular thing , whether it be person , pet , or profession and not return to it. Easy once you get used to it , but difficult to completely explain. The old three strikes and your out method is a good one to keep in mind , given the strikes are recognized as being serious enough.

I find it a lot easier to resolve a problem or concerns by verbal discussion and this small article really only skims the surface .
